equipment for the real trailer

I have used the camera, Cannon EOS 450D. The reason being, that this camera is my own, moreover the detailing within the shots is incredibly good. It also both records and takes picture, both in which I want for my trailer.

This camera also has a changeable lens, therefore I can differentiate between the lens I want, for example for a close up shot of the props, I may want a macro lens  And when recording the moving shots I can use a 100mm lens or wide angle lens.

Here is a picture of my camera and my equipment.

I have also chosen to use a mono pod for the on sight filming. As this is very easy to carry, moreover it is compact and light weight, compared to a tripod. And it also produces shots just as still.

Here is the mono pod:

Getting ready to film my REAL media trailer

To help the cast on sight of filming, and prior to filming I have created some shot lists with description of what they do and the order they do them in.

Here is a screen shot of me making them.

I have also created A time table for the cast so they know where they need to be and what time, it also requires them to sign In and out, before and after shooting has take place.

The image above is the timetable, and this is what I gave my actors and actresses. So they could plan things around these dates and times.

possible music for the actual trailer:

I think I will compose my own piano music, or use some subtle music to contrast with the dramatic
scene. However I must have some scary and dramatic sound effects.

These are examples of the subtle music I would like to contrast with my atmosphere, and possibly add loud music with this. I also will have to ask permission from the producing company, to make this legal.

audience research

I have created this audience research poster/ leaflet to allow my audience to tell me if my trailer fits the correct conventions, and I have received the correct response.

From sending these questionnaires out to people who have watched my trailer, I have established that the genre of the film psychological thriller, is apparant. And people actually found this trailer quiet creepy.

Here are two example of the research sheet that i actually received back:

From this research of how relevant my trailer is to the genre, it has been proved to be a good step in getting my trailer more suited to a psychological thriller.

There is a clear recurring theme of my trailer being 'creepy'. And the graveyard clearly encourages this theme as the comments above show this, 'graveyard made it even more creepy'.

Also the factor that one person commented 'Could not take my eyes away', shows again how successful my media product is.

I have also made a Facebook page, in which I have established similar responses.

Just so things are replace....

This is both for my own use, and the actors.
I have used this to show the cost of the props I have bought, however this also shows the trust I must have between myself and the actors. As I have used my own money to buy the props for this trailer, and If they where to be broken or mishandled, I would know from this who has broken it. As I know who is on when using each prop.

Researching types of horror posters, to decide on the style model for my magazine.

Firstly I have researched just the standard horror film magazine,
And after looking at several results, that google have shown me. I have decide on the style model 'Empire'. As empire are a well established and internationally recognised company.

(here is a screen shot of the results from my search onto the search engine google).

WIKIPEDIA SEARCH FOR BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
In common with most British film magazines, Empire is populist in both approach and coverage unlike less irreverent and more 'serious' magazines such as Sight & Sound. It reviews both mainstream films and art films, but feature articles concentrate on the former.
As well as film news, previews and reviews, Empire has some unique regular features. Each issue (with the exception of issues 108 – 113) features a Classic Scene, a transcript from a notable film scene. The first such classic scene to be featured was the "I could have been a contender" scene from On the Waterfront.

I have picked this particular magazine company to base my style model, as they specifically incorporate, and manipulate each magazine every month to have a specific and different style which links into the film in which they are portraying. As I have highlighted within my research. You can also see the unique attributes for each magazine cover, in the following images which I am using for a style model.

Within these masterpieces, they can be deconstructed to show the unique qualities in which they portray.

For the first image, this being a cover for the film 'Tron Legacy', Empire have easily engaged the attention of the type of audience for the genre of film in which it is. To do this they have suited the style of the films genre with the colour scheme on the magazine. They have used a sci-fi neon blue to compensate with the fictional content of the film, to allow the audience to relate to the magazine, and therefore buy the magazine.  They have also shown off the main character of the film, so people can relate to the genre from the costume, but it can also make fans buy the magazine.

The second magazine, for the film 'twilight', has a dark and sensitive theme, to compensate for the fictional genre. And there is a distinct image of the main character of the film, as stardom from this actor creates more profit, and more likely hood that a fan will buy the magazine.
The final magazine shows off the stylistic feature of a sci-fi thriller called 'Hell boy'. This magazine uses a colour tone of red throughout the magazine. And therefore allows the sense of the films motif, fire. To com across greatly. I have chosen this final magazine to base my magazine on, as I love the way that Empire have used a texture on the main title of the magazine.

creating my own take on an EMPIRE magazine title for my magazine

I have picked  various textures online, to add to my title of my magazine, to give it that unique aspect just as within my style model 'Empire'.

To add these to my title I have highlighted the solid format of the text box 'LEGACY', using the quick selection brush. I have then cut the image out by changing the layer, placing the texture on top and then cutting the texture out and deleting the excess.

Here are screen shots of me creating the title.
This is the original template I have created for my magazine cover.

And this is the quick selection wand above.

This is the highlighted piece of text I have used the wand/ brush tool on.

This is what it looks like when I applied the texture and cut it out.

This is my cover without my main image.
